Discovery

After a surprising discovery in my refrigerator, I learned something this week: the “best by date” on a package of bacon is more a guideline than a hard and fast rule.
What’s more shocking is that I — me, moi — actually left a package of bacon untouched that long. Usually, where I and bacon are concerned, the “best by date” is more of a theoretical concept, akin to the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin, or perhaps the square root of -1, rather than an actual number.
Related question: wouldn’t a “sucks after” date be of more use than a “best by” date?
You noticed that too….which reminds me.
