Hot… melty cheese… a slice of onion… spicy mustard… man, there isn’t anything better than hot pastrami on rye.
Except for paper-thin rare roast beef on fresh sourdough.
Oh… and a vast array of non-sandwich “better things.” But as sandwiches go, pastrami rocks.
Would you consider a properly prepared pulled-pork sandwich? With or without coleslaw?
Speaking of roast beef sandwiches (don’t know if you have enjoyed these or not), if your travels take you to Philly, an authentic (Geno’s or Pat’s) cheese-steak is tasty. If you head towards Chicago, be sure to get an Italian beef (on Taylor St.). Extry good.
“…Except for paper-thin rare roast beef on fresh sourdough.”
Yeah! And that one is extra good when grilled with Anaheim chiles and sharp cheddar.
Stopped at the LEGENDARY Canter’s Deli in the Fairfax district (of Los Angeles) yesterday, after a successful meeting with a bank. I had, in tow, 3 employees who had never visited the LEGEND. Hot pastrami on rye, chopped liver appetiser, table pickles……
That’s sandwich heaven.
Hot thin-sliced roast beef po-boy with gravy. (Either au-jus or regular brown gravy) Most folks get it fully dressed, but I prefer just mayo. Bring plenty of napkins.
Another good one is the “Triple Bypass” at the bar down the street from me. The “Double Bypass” is 2 1/3rd lb burger patties with double cheese & double bacon. The “Triple” adds a hot sausage patty…
If you like seafood, there’s always the fried shrimp po-boy, dressed, with tartar sause in place of mayo.
