Been a While

Yesterday was a busy day around here, what with errands and chores that needed doing — so busy, in fact, that it completely slipped my mind that it was the two-year anniversary of That Which They Did To Me which has, so far and with a fair degree of success, put a damper on the Recent Neurological Unpleasantness.
Had I not had the surgery, I don’t know where I would be now, other than “in a wheelchair.” I would also likely be sliding into dementia as an additional result of the hydrocephalus.
Fortunately, I have one of the best neurologists in the country, and was operated on by the best neurosurgeon in the entire world.
More importantly, I had the support and prayers of friends and family, especially my Mom. I think I understand just a little bit of what Lou Gehrig meant, when in his farewell to baseball, he described himself as the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.
I may never walk normally again, but I am truly a lucky, lucky man.
“…sliding into dementia…”?????
