Sunday Night Silliness

If you watch this video, a few questions may occur to you:

  • Pirates?
  • On bicycles?
  • In space?
  • Are those really the Power Rangers?

And last but most certainly not least:

  • What the hell is wrong with people in Japan?

Just watch and see if I’m not right.

For the record: I actually like the song. Yeah, go figure. Why else would you think I looked up the video?

The group is one of those ubiquitous girl bands they have in Japan, going by the appropriately unusual name Momoiro Clover Z. The song is Mouretsu Uchuu Koukyoukyoku Dai Nana Gakushou “Mugen no Ai,” for which I have no good translation. It was used as the opening theme of the anime series Mouretsu Pirates.

“Mouretsu” allegedly translates to something like “bodacious,” but in the series, there is nothing actually bodacious as it is commonly thought of here. Still, a good fun show.
