A Road Trip I Wish I Could Make

My working nights and weekends means I'm not able to do a few things that most people might be able to do. My social life has, shall we say, been negatively impacted.

My social life was never that great to begin with. What I regret not being able to do, though, is something like this:

What: Gathering of Eagles

When: March 17th, 2007 0700-1600 (7 AM to 4 PM)

Where: The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall, Washington D.C.

Why: To stand silent guard over our nation's memorials, in honor of our fallen, and in solidarity with our armed forces in harm's way today. Read our mission statement.

I wish I could go.

Michelle Malkin asks, "How many times have you sat in front of the TV over the last four years, watching anti-war activists march on Washington, chase the ROTC off your local college campus, vandalize war memorials, insult the troops and wreak havoc under the surrender banner?"

Answer.....ummmmmm never. I mean anti-war activists marching on Washington? Yeah. All the rest of that b*******....ummmmmm never. Any acolytes out there bright enough to ask for proof of all these allegations or are all you obedient little drones to afwaid of your queen bee to upset her?

You wanna protect something important? Why don't you go to Walter Reed and protect the men and women who served this country from getting sub-standard health care and medical coverage rather than waste your time on this "Britney Spears" wannabe, fashion statement, empty meaning nonsense to make yourself "appear" patriotic when its all show and no substance as usual. Stick with your usual support of your troops and just send the cheesy, cheap yellow ribbon magnet that was made in China. No sense in changing your usual support now.

Oh, neat-o... a little drive-by troll. Apparently, "Syntax" had nothing better to do than follow trackbacks from Malkin's site, in order to dump duplicate comments at peoples' blogs.

Michelle Malkin asks, "How many times have you sat in front of the TV over the last four years, watching anti-war activists march on Washington, chase the ROTC off your local college campus, vandalize war memorials, insult the troops and wreak havoc under the surrender banner?"

"Never" covers a lot of time, even when limited to the four years Malkin refers to.

UC Santa Cruz: recruiters (which I'll presume you've conflated with ROTC) forced away.

Vandalism: got you covered right here. And here.

Insult the troops? Does the name Durbin sound familiar?

That took all of 2 minutes using Google. Next time you try to deny that actual events have actually happened, you might try picking something that wasn't quite so well documented.

You wanna protect something important?

I have done. Seven years in uniform, protecting the important and the unimportant. People who appreciated it, and people who didn't. I can guess which of the latter two categories you fall into.

Why don't you go to Walter Reed and protect the men and women who served this country from getting sub-standard health care and medical coverage

The best thing I, in my situation, can do for them is work hard, pay my taxes, and vote. Been there, done that.

rather than waste your time on this "Britney Spears" wannabe, fashion statement, empty meaning nonsense

The last three words are a perfect summary of your "comment."

to make yourself "appear" patriotic when its all show and no substance as usual. Stick with your usual support of your troops and just send the cheesy, cheap yellow ribbon magnet that was made in China. No sense in changing your usual support now.

I don't have to "appear" patriotic. I am patriotic, and I've nothing to prove to an ass such as yourself, who wouldn't recognize real patriotism if it walked up to him wearing a big nametag saying "Hi, my name is Patriotism" and verbally announcing itself before punching you square in the nose.

Cheap, showy displays of patriotism may be cheap. They may be showy. But they are displays of patriotism — which, I'll wager, is more than you've ever done.

I'll bet the sight of the American flag simply galls you. Well, choke on it, bud.

If I could skip work and head up to DC with my fellow veterans, I'd be there. I may yet take the day off and do just that. We'll see.

But since I have responsibilities which are no doubt far greater than yours (probably manning the night desk at the Hilton hotel in Memphis, TN — ooo, Russ knows how to use IP tools!) it might not be possible. See, someone has to keep the Internet running during the nights and over the weekends, even if that means vermin like you can spew your hate, and thankfully it's up to people like me rather than people like you.

Much, I might add, like defending this great nation is.

I, for one, want to thank you for serving our country so the rest of us can enjoy the freedoms we do. Yes, I'm one of those cheesy supporters but I'm not sending you my yellow ribbon magnet . . . I'm keeping it for myself. But, thank you for all you've done and continue to do.

That syntax character is a "cut and paste" troll.
Parrots the thoughts of others, rarely has any honest contributions.

Here's a cut and paste for ya....spin this acolyte! http://www.armytimes.com/news/2007/02/TNSreedinspect070227/

And the sight of the American flag galls me? How desperate and truly pathetic in such an immature manner. My 6 year old is more mature than that. Doesn't this re-hashed right-wing drone b******* ever get old to you 30% of this country still stupid enough to use these past-tense tactics from the likes of Neo-con has-beens like Malkin, Coulter and the rest? You served your country? B*******! You USED your country for the benefits offered from serving in our fine military. If you REALLY served your country than you'd be outraged at whats going on at Walter Reed rather than following the other pied piper rats and having a thumb-sucking tantrum and blaming the "Liberal Media". That crutch is old but its better than the crutch our soldiers are getting. YOUR fellow soldiers (supposedly). You're typical...spent a few years in the Army sucking off the tax-payer tit and now you think you've earned the same rights and respect as those fighting over seas. All the while, back-stabbing those who fight over seas to carry on the acolyte cause because you fail to think for yourself. Call me a troll? Thats a compliment acolyte of the measley 30%.

And the sight of the American flag galls me?

Certainly the notion of people willing to stand up for it seems to.

My, how the hate flows from you. Maybe, instead of looking to attempt to insult people, you should crack a book and try to better yourself. I suspect there's a lot of room for upward mobility there.

You served your country? Bullshit! You USED your country for the benefits offered from serving in our fine military.

If you'd read the archives here, if you knew the first thing about me — or about any veteran — you'd think at least once before spouting off. But I suppose thinking is foreign to you and your ilk. I'll give you a hint, though: people signing up "just for the benefits" don't reenlist after their first 4-year term of service. Do the math, if you can, you poltroon.

Hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. You're right — I'm angry about the conditions at the Walter Reed outpatient center. There's a chain of command to be mad at, and the exact right thing has already happened — the commander has been relieved, which is death to a military career.

Just ask Wesley Clark.

But do not dare to equate the condition of a building to the treatment our wounded soldiers receive. I've spent time as a patient in Army hospitals, more than once. The care was better than you might think. But I suppose caring about soldiers is somewhat beyond your capacity. You don't actually care about the people at Walter Reed, except so far as they give you an opportunity to kvetch and complain. Well, get bent, pal. Your kind of care we can all do without.

You're typical...spent a few years in the Army sucking off the tax-payer tit and now you think you've earned the same rights and respect as those fighting over seas.

Well, I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of years on the DMZ in Korea, paying taxes the whole time, in fact. I'm so sorry there wasn't a "hot" war at the time. And I apologize that I didn't get my ass shot at... not more than once, anyway.

You, on the other hand, are precisely typical. You resent, even hate, the fact that better men than you are willing to take the risks inherent in military service. Perhaps you're weak, or possibly you're too dumb to pass the qualification tests, or because you're lazy. Or maybe you're just a coward who sees nothing more important than preserving his own miserable skin, and is willing to let better men stand between him and harm.

All the while, back-stabbing those who fight over seas to carry on the acolyte cause because you fail to think for yourself. Call me a troll? Thats a compliment acolyte of the measley 30%.

I support our troops, past, present and future, period. Because I do think. Because I study. Because I know history, and because I know that were it not for those who serve, we would have nothing.

And like any other troll, you're outta here, hotel-boy. I have neither the time nor the desire to see your droolings here again. Begone.

You forget widdle moonbat, I've seen your lies before. Buh-bye troll-liar.

Almost forgot, thank you Russ.
I doubt the widdle moonbat will be back.
Like I said, I've seen his garbage before. Just a cut and paste minion. Rather sad. I'm sure his parents must be proud.
