Dating Preferences
Steve of Hog on Ice, while pointing out the obvious disadvantages of dating divorced women with kids, correctly notes:
There are worse things than being alone.
He's right.
But there aren't many things worse.
Trust me on this one. I am, after all, an expert on being alone.

The thing to remember about that comment is that not only are there worse things than being alone, those things are worse than being alone to a far greater degree than being alone is worse than being with someone right.
Trust me, I've experienced all three.
