(Minor) Liberal Evils

As the Democrat convention begins, I think the thing we can most expect to hear is a litany of the eeeeeeeeeevils the Republicans (themselves eeeeeeeevil) are allegedly responsible for.

Puh-leeze.

We know some of the bad things the Democrats and leftists in general have inflicted on us all, some big (political correctness), some really big (multi-generational families dependent on Welfare), and some too humungous to believe (Michael Moore's ass).

I've decided to collect a list of some of the minor evils — the little everyday things that we could all do without — perpetrated on us by leftists and Democrats.

Your help in collecting these (in the comment, of course) will be much appreciated. I'll start:

  • Crabgrass - pure evil, but minor. I'm pretty sure it was brought into the country by John Kerry on his return from Vietnam, as a way to irritate all those rich Republicans who can afford to own houses with lawns. (And I'll bet you never even knew Kerry served in Vietnam....)

  • Andy Rooney - He used to be funny and clever, now he's just a bitter old has-been who has managed to retain his five minutes on TV every week because he hates conservatives.

  • The United Nations - brought to us by the FDR and Truman administrations, as well as assorted one-worlders. Whose idea was it to give Liechtenstein a vote equal to ours? (No offense to Liechtenstein, I'm sure it's a pleasant place and all, but really....) If the UN had their own armed forces, maybe they'd be dangerous. As it is, it's merely a Kaffeeklatsch for tyrants and their diplomats, who complain about Israel and annoy New Yorkers by parking illegally.

  • Spam - pure evil, but minor. Not the tasty pork product, which was developed by Good Capitalists, but the unsolicited e-mail variety. A California law firm started the whole thing to drum up business, and we all know whose side those nasty trial lawyers are on.

What are your liberal-generated peeves?

Kerry and the Dems are responsible for crabgrass? Who knew?

I'll add one to your list: Cicadas, the 17 year kind we just had here in the Mid-Atlantic. They crawl out of the ground, sing for mates (loudly enough to rattle the windows), split the ends of tree branches to lay their eggs (proving they don't REALLY care about the environment), and die. That's it until 17 years later when they do it all over again. What useful purpose do they serve? If not actually evil (damaging but not killing trees) they are atleast self-centered. Sounds like Dems to me.

I’ll add another to your list: Statism. The 120 year kind we have here in the States. It crawled out of the ground in 1842, sang a Marxian solo for mates and fellow travelers (loudly enough to smash windows and build gulags), split societies and decimated the poor (proving that it had no real social conscience) and, as socialism, died. That is until 120 years later in 1962, when it crawled out from under the so-called silence of spring to invoke the new statist command-and-control model: environmentalism. It raised up the Tragedy of the Commons (proving it doesn’t REALLY care about the environment). What useful purpose does it serve? It is actually evil (damaging and killing trees, and people) and is completely self-centered. Sounds like Dems to me.

(Thnx Retread ;>)

Stephen,

You're right about Statism, except for one thing: we're talking about minor evils here.

The United Nations, then? Pretty major if you're Rwandan, etc.

Larry Flynt. Brought his daughter up to be a pornographer, didn't have the sense to die when he was shot, and was the George Soros of the 2000 election (remember that, anyone).

Minor Evil. To call him a major evil would make him think he was actually able to pack wood again.

And while we're on it, George Soros. Major Evil.

Is it just me, but does Major Evil sound like Dr. Evil's rank when he served in the military in a MASH unit?

Minor Evil: Janeane Garofalo. Sure, she's strident, and bitter, and I feel betrayed because U used to have a crush on her, but do you honestly believe she really has any influence outside her own little world?

That's I, not "U". Preview is my friend.
